Haralson was named for Hugh A. Haralson, a former Georgia congressman.
Haralson is located primarily in southeastern Coweta County. The city limits extend slightly south into Meriwether County.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.81 square miles (2.1km) and the town population was 187 in the 2016 census estimate.
