How To Pay Your Traffic Ticket

Below are the ways you can pay your traffic ticket:

To pay by phone, call 770-755-5561, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
To pay online, visit the Pay Your Tix website. Be sure to at least two (2) weeks after receiving your citation to attempt to pay online. You may contact our Pay Your Tix vendor at 770-755-5561 if you want to receive a text message about your citation being available online.
If you have any questions or do not find your citation in the on-line payment system two weeks prior to your court date, please call our office at 770-254-2699.

Whether a citation is payable or requires a court appearance is determined by the judges of the Coweta County State Court. In creating what is known as the Traffic Violations Bureau (TVB), the judges drafted and signed an order setting out what offenses were to be payable without a court appearance.

Note: You must come to court if you are under 21 and charged with speeding violation of 24 MPH or more over the posted speed limit.

Notice and Procedure to Qualify as a First Time Speeding Offender

O.C.G.A. §40-6-1 establishes a maximum speeding for first time speeding offenders charged under O.C.G.A. § 40-6-181. To qualify under this code section the current citation must be an individuals first speeding offense in any jurisdiction in any state or province. Any prior speeding offense, even in another state, that resulted in a final disposition of:

entry of bond forfeiture,
a plea of guilty,
a plea of nolo contendere, or
finding of guilty/conviction

disqualifies the person as a first offender.

Any individual eligible for treatment as a First Time Speeding Offender under O.C.G.A. § 40-6-1, must submit a sworn affidavit to the Court showing that the pending speeding citation is their first ever speeding offense. This First Time Speeding affidavit will be necessary regardless of the manner of payment (mail, internet or personal appearance) chosen by the accused. It is a violation of the law in Georgia to submit a false affidavit in a Court of law. Any individual who has not posted a cash bond on their charge(s) and who fails to appear or dispose of their charge(s) on or before their scheduled Court date may be accessed Court cost in addition to any ordered fine payment.

You can also e-file your signed document on the EZFile website once you register for your account.

If you e-file the document, please use filing code FOS-First Offender Speeding Affidavit. You can retrieve your case number assigned on the Coweta State Court website.

In addition, you can bring the document into the office for filing as well. Please note the form will allow you to type your name, citation number and the month which you complete the form; however, the tab for signature must have an original signature on the form. Once you have completed this form and returned it to this office, you will be given a new court date. This will allow this office the opportunity to run your driving history which will determine your eligibility.

Please note that if you e-file the document, be sure to use the filing code NOLO-Nolo Plea Form. You can also bring the document into the office for filing.

Request for Continuance

To have your Traffic Violations Bureau (TVB) case continued or to request a bench or jury trial, visit the Pay Your Tix website until 3:00 p.m. of your court date. No continuances will be granted over the phone.
When requesting a jury trial, your case will be placed on the next available motions calendar for the judge assigned to your case, prior to being placed on the next jury trial calendar. This site is only for payable citations.
- If you have any issues with accessing the website please call 770-254-2699 and press extension two (2) or three (3) for help.
- It may take up to 24 hours before receiving an email regarding your requests, which are only processed during business hours.

Please Note: Unless you receive confirmation that the court date has been continued, the request is deemed denied. If you don't receive confirmation, then you must appear on the scheduled court date to handle your citation. If you don't, then we will notify the Georgia Department of Drivers Services and a FTA will be issued.

The Change of Address Form must be returned to the Clerk of State Court's Office, located at 72 Greenville Street, Newnan, Georgia, 30263 or by mail at P.O. Box 884, Newnan, Georgia 30264. You may also e-file your signed change of address form at the EZFile website once you register for an account.
