FIREARMS PERMIT:

Please read below on how to apply for a new or renewal license. If you have a question about whether your criminal history will disqualify you from obtaining a weapons carry license, please review O.C.G.A. § 16-11-129. We are prohibited by law from giving legal advise. 

You are required to bring the following with you on the day of your appointment:

1. DRIVER’S LICENSE that reflects your current Coweta County physical address.
2. Your OLD WEAPONS CARRY LICENSE (if you are renewing).
3. If you were born outside of the United States, you must bring PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP or PROOF OF PERMANENT RESIDENCY.  

PERMIT FEES:

First time applicant: $77.00 

Renewals: $30.00

Retired Law Enforcement Officer: $7.00 – Proof that you are a retired law enforcement officer who served at the Federal or Georgia State level is required at the time of application.

Acceptable payment is cash, check or charge (There is a 5% convenience fee for use of a charge card). 

ONLINE APPLICATION (REQUIRED)

All applicants for new and renewal must select “NEW APPLICATION”.  Upon arrival at the Probate Court, if you are eligible for a renewal permit, your application will be converted to a renewal and the renewal fee will be applied.
