The Hunter Complex was dedicated in November 1999. It was named for former Commissioner Vernon "Mutt" Hunter. Coweta County, under the leadership of Commissioner Hunter, originally purchased 34 acres and later proceeded to acquire an additional 24 acres in 2000 from the school system. These 54 acres have become one of the major venues for both youth and adult recreation in Coweta County.
