Citizens have several options for trash disposal in Coweta County.  We have a successful recycling program that accepts most recyclable materials free of charge from Coweta citizens.  We also have a Construction and Demolition (C&D) Landfill for disposal of all non-hazardous construction and demolition debris and yard trimmings.

For regular household trash, citizens have the option of using our "Pay as you Throw" garbage bag program or contracting with a private hauler for residential pick-up.  Trash in a Coweta County garbage bag and Recyclables must be dropped at one of our compactor sites around the county.

Large items that won't fit in a "Pay as you Throw" garbage bag may be brought to the Transfer Station.  The Transfer Station also accepts dead animals and tires.

All Coweta County Environmental Management facilities follow the county holiday schedule.

The Coweta County Transfer Station Remains CLOSED due to a fire that destroyed the building. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Here are the best options we have found so far for disposal.

Citizens whose income is below the federal poverty level and receive benefits from the Department of Family and Children's Services may purchase the bags from the Information Desk located at the Main Entrance, 22 East Broad Street, Newnan, Georgia, for $.10 each. Simply bring your DFACS Summary Statement and a determination will be made as to whether or not a household is qualified to receive the exemption. If qualified, you will be allowed to purchase a limited number of bags at the exemption price.

Senior citizens who qualify for a reduction in their gas, phone, or electric bills may also purchase bags at the exemption price of $.10 each. To receive the bags at this price, senior citizens should bring a utility bill which shows that they qualify for this reduction to the Information Desk located at the Main Entrance, 22 East Broad Street, Newnan, Georgia, in order to register for the program.

Residents who qualify for this exemption will be limited to the number of bags that they can receive at the exemption price based upon the number of persons in the household.
