The Coweta County Juvenile Courthouse is located at the rear of the Coweta County Justice Center in the City of Newnan. Juvenile court is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Juvenile Court is closed on the weekends and during court holidays.

The Coweta County Juvenile Court is a FULL SECURITY facility. All persons entering the building will be required to pass through a weapons screening device and have all hand-carried objects scanned.

Weapons of any type will not be permitted into the Justice Center. Items such as: knives (including pocket knives), scissors, corkscrews, mace, pepper spray, knitting needles, etc., which may be deemed potentially offensive and dangerous by the Sheriff’s Department will not be allowed in the building.

Juvenile Court handles cases in which a minor is:

  • Cited or arrested by a law enforcement agency for allegedly violating the law. Additionally, school officials and private citizens who have knowledge of the facts of the reported allegations of any criminal act may file a Complaint. These cases are referred to as "delinquency" cases, and involve minors under the age of 17.
  • Habitually absent or truant from school without a legal excuse. The Court also hears “unruly” cases, in which a minor either leaves their home without parental consent, or is habitually disobedient of the reasonable and lawful commands of his or her parents, legal custodian or guardian.
  • Removed from the custody of their parent or legal guardian because of allegations of abuse or neglect. These cases are referred to as "dependency" cases and involve minors under the age of 18.
