Applications will be accepted, however, not all applicants will be interviewed or hired until we have a need. Applicants will be called and interviewed prior to an election if new workers are needed for that election. If you have already placed an application with us, the application will remain in our file for future elections. You do not need to reapply.   

If you have previously applied to be a poll worker and no longer wish to be considered, please let us know by calling our office at 770-254-2615.

• A Judicious, Intelligent and Upright citizen of the United States

• A resident of Coweta County, employed by Coweta County or a resident of a neighboring county*
• *A Poll Worker Employment Waiver must be completed and approved by the residing county, if you are a resident of the following counties: Carroll, Fayette, Fulton, Heard, Meriwether, Spalding, & Troup. (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-92(a)(2))

1. You must be at least 16 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Coweta County, or an employee of Coweta County government. You must be able to read, write, and speak the English language and have had no prior felony convictions for at least 10 years.
2. Complete and submit an application.
3. Attend a required training session prior to each election which will make you eligible as a poll worker. You must provide your own transportation. You will be required to provide documents that establish your identification and your employment authorization.

No. Poll workers get paid for their services. 

All poll workers must be at their assigned polling place at 6 a.m. on Election Day until approximately 9 p.m. The day ends when all election evidence is reconciled, and all materials have been packed away.

All poll workers are required by law to attend training prior to each election. Our office schedules several dates and times for training for each election. If you are needed and assigned to a precinct, your poll manager will contact you to schedule the date and time of your training class.

If a poll worker is not trained prior to an election, he or she will not be allowed to work the polls on Election Day.

Yes, the law requires that a poll worker must be trained prior to working any election (except for a runoff). Procedures, laws, and rules can change prior to every election being held.

No. Poll officials are required to vote prior to Election Day. You may vote by mail (link to ABM page) or during early voting (link to Early Voting page) at one of our two early voting locations. Once you've been sworn in at the polling place, you are not allowed to leave until all Election Day activities have been completed.  

No. Due to potential allergen situations, it is recommended that all poll officials bring their own meals, snacks, and drinks for the day. Some polling locations have kitchens available for poll officials limited use, but not all do, so you should be prepared with meals that do not require heating or refrigeration. If a facility allows kitchen use, we ask that you have respect for the location in maintaining cleanliness and do not use utensils as they may belong to employees who work at the facility.

If a poll official has any type of food allergies, they should make the poll manager aware in case of an emergency.
