Coweta County Probate Judge Carrie B. Markham has been named Chair of the Supreme Court of Georgia’s Commission on Dispute Resolution.
Judge Markham, who previously served as Chair-Elect, succeeds Chief Judge M. Cindy Morris of the Conasauga Judicial Circuit. In her new role as Chair, Judge Markham will help guide the Commission’s efforts to support alternative dispute resolution (ADR) programs across Georgia.
In her remarks, Judge Markham reflected on the opportunity to serve alongside the Commission’s members and staff. She reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to working with courts and community partners to ensure well-trained, qualified and ethical neutrals while supporting strong ADR programs statewide. Judge Markham also expressed appreciation for the leadership of outgoing Chair Chief Judge M. Cindy Morris and noted her intent to continue building on the strong foundation established during Morris’ tenure.
Judge Markham has served as the Probate Judge for Coweta County since 2020. Prior to taking the bench, she practiced as a litigation attorney for 14 years. During her time with the Commission, Judge Markham has contributed to several initiatives, including service on the Probate Court Working Group, which focuses on expanding the use of mediation in probate matters.
