DEPUTIES HONORED AS FIRST FRIDAY HEROES

Post Date:06/06/2019 9:11 AM

YOU CALL FOR HELP.  YOU GET A HERO.

The First Friday Hero Program was started by Piedmont Newnan Hospital in April to recognize Coweta County's Public Safety/First Responders (firefighters, EMS, law officers, 911 operators, etc.) who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

IMG_9072The June honor went to Deputies Stacy Beckom and Charlie Hall with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office for actions that saved the life of a long-time Coweta cattle farmer.

Hall responded to a 911 call in Sharpsburg regarding several cows loose from a nearby pasture. As the cow’s owner and Hall got the last cow wrangled in, the man suddenly collapsed, falling to the ground with no pulse and in apparent cardiac arrest.th the Coweta County Sheriff's Office

After calling for medical help, Hall began performing CPR on the side of the road until Beckom arrived to assist. The two men took turns performing CPR until personnel from Coweta County Fire Rescue arrived and transported the man to Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

The victim was ultimately transferred to Piedmont Atlanta and was determined to have triple vessel coronary angioplasty.

After a 16-day critical care journey that included successful open-heart surgery, the man was sent home for recuperation.
