The Board of Assessors has approved the meeting dates for the remainder of the calendar year 2017.
If you were planning to attend the January 5 meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals (BOZA) concerning for the 14 variance requests by CRG-Bridgeport LLC for property at HWY 29 and I-85 (ZA 046-16), the owner has requested by letter that any discussion of the variances be postponed until the BOZA meeting of February 23. You are still welcome to attend tomorrow's meeting, however, this request will be moved to the February meeting date.

During the past two weeks Coweta County has received approximately six (6) inches of rain. This has been beneficial rains that have significantly decreased the threat of wild fires in our region. At this time the Coweta County Fire Rescue Department believes the threat of fire has been reduced to a safe level, thus prompting the decision to release all outdoor burn restrictions. This includes outdoor recreational and yard debris burning.
Georgia’s Environmental Protection Division recently declared a Level 2 drought response for Metro Atlanta as severe drought conditions have extended into the fall. Between March and October, about 20 inches of rain fell in Atlanta, nearly 13 inches below average.

Blickle U.S.A. to build new headquarters in Newnan, GA
Blickle U.S.A., which manufactures and distributes wheels and casters, has announced plans to locate its US headquarters in Coweta County.
The Coweta County Board of Commissioners has elected to sell 173 surplus properties acquired by virtue of tax deed for failure to pay taxes. The County has held some of these surplus properties for more than 10 years. It has determined that it is in the best interests of the citizens to sell the properties in a timely manner to return them to private citizens and back on the tax digest.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a mandatory nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on Wednesday, September 28, at 2:20 p.m. EDT to verify the delivery and broadcast, and assess the readiness for distribution of the national level test message.
