Birth, Marriage & Death Certificate Copies
The Coweta County Probate Office uses a combined form for requesting these certificates. The form is available at the Probate Court Office or you can download the form, fill in the appropriate sections and return it to the Probate Court Office, 22 East Broad Street, Newnan, Georgia 30263.

INFORMATION NEEDED TO OBTAIN CERTIFIED COPIES OF BIRTH CERTIFICATES:

  • Photo ID
  • Name of child at birth
  • Mother's maiden name
  • Father's name
  • Date of birth
  • Relationship to person named on birth certificate
  • Fee: $15. 00 (Cash or Money Order -- NO CHECKS)

INFORMATION NEEDED TO OBTAIN CERTIFIED COPIES OF MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES:

  • Available only if the Marriage License was applied for in Coweta County
  • Fee: $5.00 (Cash or Money Order -- NO CHECKS)

INFORMATION NEEDED TO OBTAIN CERTIFIED COPIES OF DEATH CERTIFICATES:

  • Name of deceased person
  • Date of death
  • Relationship to person named on death certificate
  • Fee: $15.00 (Cash or Money Order -- NO CHECKS)

Marriage Licenses
INFORMATION NEEDED TO OBTAIN A MARRIAGE LICENSE

Who:
Must be at least 18 years of age.  Non-Georgia residents being married in Coweta County and Georgia
residents. Both bride and groom must appear in person.

When:
Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 PM.

What to Bring:
Proper ID : Driver's License, Passport or Birth Certificate
Final Divorce Decree if either party has been divorced.

Fee:
If a couple has had 'premarital education' as defined in Code Section 19-3-30.1 the cost of the application will be $16.00 (Cash or Money Order -- NO CHECKS)  If a couple has not had 'premarital education', the fee will be $51.00 (Cash or Money Order -- NO CHECKS)

To get the reduced fee, you must provide Probate Court with a signed, notarized certification (Available here) by clergyman, doctor, social worker or therapist.

Firearms Licenses

$55.00 - First Time applicant OR Renewal - Cash Only

Receipt of License:
2 - 5 months

Administration of Estates and Guardianships

A web site at http://www.gaprobate.org guides users through the steps required to download and print blank forms for many probate proceedings. The site contains some 55 standard forms associated with the functions of the Probate Court provided by the Georgia Council of Probate Court Judges. These forms are also available at the Probate Court office at 22 East Broad Street, Newnan, Georgia 30263.
